{Stamp Simply} Many Thanks

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to my friends here in the States!! I hope you have a wonderful day with family and friends!

Since Thanksgiving seems to have become the opening of the Christmas season I wanted a card for today that hinted at both holidays.  I settled on a Thank You sentiment, a Christmas paper pack, and a warm and cozy owl. :)

Mr. Owl can be sort of intimidating.  Here's some of the tricks I used on him...

* Cut the owl body out of a lighter color than his wing.  I used a piece of DCWV adhesive cork for his wing to add some texture.

* I cut a piece of green patterned paper with the bottom of the die and then cut out the leaf portion.  I glued these leaves to the owl diecut, and I handcut another leaf to give it more dimension.

* I used a Spectrum Noir marker to color the owl's beak, eyes and ears.

* I cut a piece of paper and adhered it behind his eyes so he didn't look hollow. :)

* I cut the scarf out of patterned paper to add some color.

Sending Hugs

I wanted to make a card for the Share Joy challenge on this snowy morning, but my stamp room is such a disaster that I needed LOTS of inspiration!!  Soooooo.... I took the theme from the Curtain Call...

and the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches...

and came up with this...

Now why I didn't use the sketch from the Share Joy challenge is beyond me.  I think my mind shut off halfway, KWIM?  So apparently that means that this must be a clean and simple card.  :)  And, while it is fairly clean and there is lots of white  blue space, I think it is more clean and layered.  Sigh!  Hopefully they'll let me play anyway!  I think I'll tuck this in a Christmas package to a friend that will be going out this week.

I watercolored the sweet little fox from the Ready, Set, Snow set from Taylored Expressions with my Distress Markers and used some cool adhesive cork paper that I got from Stamp Simply, as well as some patterned paper from the Pebbles Winter Wonderland pad, for my background.  A little twine and some sparkly snowflakes (that I got as an incentive in my last Gina K order) added some texture.  The sentiment is from TE's So Much Love set.

{Stamp Simply} Merry and Bright

Aren't the colors in this new Wild Rose Studio Winter Bauble paper lovely??  They make such a pretty holiday card!!  I layered a teardrop circle die that I embossed with the Holly embossing folder over my background and then topped it with Create a Snowflake flakes that I stamped with the small snowflake from the Signs of Christmas set.  The sentiment is from that set, as well!  Some enamel dots and a pretty floofy bow out of wrinkled ribbon finish it off.

{Sugar Pea Designs Sketch Challenge} Prehistoric Birthday

I got the Prehistoric Pals set in the mail today from Sugar Pea Designs and went to work making a card with the sketch challenge...  well, pretty close at least!  I'm afraid my watercolor background needs a little work, but it's pretty cute in real life.

I stamped the inside with the volcano and the "I Lava You" sentiment.
My husband thought it was great! : )

Here's the sketch...

{Share Joy Challenge} Ready, Set, SNOW!

My Share Joy card for this week is for my daughter in Florida.  She's ready for some snow about now! :)  I used an adorable set from Taylored Expressions called Ready, Set, Snow, some Winter Whimsy background paper by Gina K Designs, and I followed the Share Joy sketch for the week. with the addition of the circle that my main image is in.  I watercolored the image with Distress Markers.

Wishing You Joy

More and more these days I find myself drawn to watercoloring my images rather than using copics.  I just love the ease of shading and the fact that I can do larger images more quickly and not feel like I've just used up half of the ink in a really expensive marker.  Today I watercolored a sweet digi from Your Next Stamp called Rosie Rabbit Gift.  I think it is probably supposed to be a Christmas stamp, but I think with these colors I can use it now.   I'm going to enter this card in Jennifer McGuire's Share Handmade Kindness Challenge. : )  I can't tell you who I'm giving it to, cuz she reads my blog, but I'll be giving it away later this week!

I used the Your Next Stamp sketch for the week and pulled some papers from MME's Notable 6x6 paper pad.  I did change the position of the bottom strip to fit my sentiment a little better.  I hope that passes! My bunny is watercolored with Distress Markers and a thin brush.  The sentiment is an OLD $1 stamp from Michaels.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.
I hope you'll be inspired to share some kindness, too!

Blessings!

{Gina K Designs Inspiration Blog Hop} Sparkling Christmas Stamp TV Kit

The Cast and Crew of Gina K Designs welcomes you to another fabulous Inspiration Blog Hop to celebrate the brand new Stamp TV Kit - Sparkling Christmas! Gina and the Cast and Crew will inspire you with many fun projects!

As you hop through the blogs of Gina and the Cast & Crew, make sure to leave a comment on each of them because we will choose a random commenter to win a grab bag of Gina K Designs products!  To see if you won, check the Big News Forum at StampTV a few days after the hops.

My first card today features the fun, whimsical reindeer.  Such a quick and easy card using some of the Sparkling Christmas patterned paper and a few dies.  To dress up my reindeer a little more, I colored his scarf and boots and added a red nose and a golden bow.  The sentiment was stamped on a strip of black cardstock with Versamark ink and then embossed with white embossing powder.

My second card is simple as well.  This time I embossed a piece of Prickly Pear cardstock with a snowflake embossing folder to use as the background behind my main image.  I masked the snowman and stamped some pine trees behind him, then added a gold bow at the top to make it look like an ornament or a gift tag.

Well, that's it for today!  I'll give you the list of my fellow designers again, in case you're just getting started... otherwise, you can jump right over to the shop to pick up your kits and any other stamps and supplies you saw on today's hop.   And don't forget to visit me on Friday in the Stamp TV Addicts Group for another edition of Friday Funday!
See you then!!
