Mini Merry

Looking for my Sweet n Sassy digi card?  You'll find it HERE.

The Flourishes challenge this week is to make an ornament for your tree.  Hmmm.  That's a challenge!  Then last night I came up with an idea using my mini star dies from MFT and the "Make Merry" sentiment from Flourishes "Meet Me Under the Mistletoe" set.
All in all it's probably no more than 1 1/4" high.  It makes me smile! : )

We have an extra long and extra easy digi challenge for you this week.  The challenge?  Use your favorite colors (Mine are pink and green!) and you have two weeks to enter!!  Yay!!

Tag! You're It!

That's right!  Today's challenge on the SNSS Digi Challenge Blog is to make a tag or use a tag on a card.  I made a simple tag with Cocoa Mouse today and attached it to these adorable printed kleenex that I found at Joann Fabrics.  This seems to be the time for stuffy noses, so this will probably go in someone's stocking! : )

Have a great day and I hope you'll join us at the challenge if you have a few minutes to play!!

Arise and Shine

When I was a Stampin Up demo, blue and mustard was one of my favorite color combos, so when I was looking for a non-traditional color scheme for this week's Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Christmas challenge I chose to revisit those colors.  I stamped a background layer with the verse in the "Christmas Candles" set and sponged around the edges with Mustard ink.  The image and sentiment are stamped in Night of Navy ink and I added a few stickles for some sparkle.

SFYTT 2012 Finale

I have had so much fun playing along with the Sketch for You to Try challenge this year! For my December card I pulled out a fun little Changito and an old Stampin Up stamp.  I colored with copics to match my Prima designer paper and added a little distress ink sponging to warm up the white paper.  Of course I also had to add some Stickles snowflakes!! : )  Let's see if I can link the rest of my cards for the year...

I'm sorry to see this challenge come to a close.  I've really enjoyed it!

Flourishes Progressive Challenge

Today's card is for the Flourishes' Progressive Challenge.  Let's see... here are the steps...
1.  Square Card
2. Floral image from Summer Blossoms
4.  I used the turquoise  / green colors from the inspiration photo and kept my main focus in the center of the card - like the door of flowers was in the photo.
5.  A tag using a stamp from the Tag Lines set.
6.  A Labels 5 die with curvy edges
7.  Sponging with Distress Ink
8.  Die Cut

How fun!  Be sure to visit the Flourishes blog to find out how to play.  The prize is the December Release! : )

Some Digi Mojo

It's time for another Sweet n Sassy Digi Challenge!  This week I used the sweet Pippin's Gift digi that I colored with copics and promarkers.  I wanted to play along with this week's Mojo Monday sketch as well, this week, especially because it is a contest week! : )

Drop on by the Sweet n Sassy Digi Blog to play along!

Winter Thoughts

I had a little time yesterday, so I decided to join in this month's Guest Designer Challenge for MFT.  I love this Snow Angels set, and it was a perfect match for these paapers from Prima, so I pulled out my markers and got busy watercoloring my image which was stamped on watercolor paper and then cut out with a Labels 5 die.  I tried to keep my design clean and simple but still follow the sketch, so I opted to just add a little stitching and some stickles and let the design speak for itself.

Happy Winter!! : )

Flourishes Gold

We decorated our Christmas tree today with sparkly gold and burgundy bulbs that I picked up a year or two ago. I love that color combo, so I used it for this week's Flourishes challenge to use Gold or Silver on a card.

I used the Flourishes set "Meet me under the Mistletoe" and stamped it with Burgundy ink on some sparkly paper.  My gold background paper is embossed with a Cuttlebug snowman folder.  After stitching the edge of the image layer and adding the ribbon and tag it still needed something, so I colored some greyish-blue pearls I had on hand with an R59 copic to make some berries. : )

Interior Decorating

Outside...

Hello friends!  Today's SNSS Digi Challenge is "Interior Decorating" so you need to decorate both the inside and outside of your card.  I used "Rhubarb's Autumn Day" on the outside of my card and then a sentiment from "Bear Sentiments" inside the card.  I like to leave room to write, so mine isn't too very fancy!

I hope you'll join us!!

Birthday Blog Hop!

Hello everyone!

Welcome to my stop on the Sweet n Sassy Birthday Blog Hop!  I have had the very great privilege of serving on both the digital and clear stamp design teams for Sweet n Sassy at different times over the last few years, and what fun it has been!  I'm thrilled to be participating in today's Hop!

Now, if you've followed my blog at all, you know that I *love* Rhubarb and Cocoa, but for today's special event I used another of my favorite digis... "Poppies".  I don't know that Poppies are ever pink, but I love the fact that I can color flowers any color and they still look good! : )  I colored the Poppies with copics and matted them, adding some stitching for texture.  The Scripture verse is from the digital set "Amazing Grace", and the "Praying for You" sentiment is from the clear stamp set "Poppies and Greetings".

Thanks so much for stopping by today and don't forget to leave a comment!  Why? Because Korin will be choosing a random commenter from 4 different blogs on the hop to receive a $15 store credit!  To be included in the drawings your comments must be left by midnight EST Friday, November 30th, so hurry, hurry, hurry!! : )  The winners will be announced on the SNSS Blog on December 1st at 8 am EST.  See you there!

Hello friends!  It's another Digi Challenge day at the Sweet n Sassy Digi Blog!  This week we're making gift items, or cards with a gift in the image.  I chose to color up this sweet Rhubarb Santa image and paired it with a sentiment from the Beary Christmas Sentiment set.  I hope you'll be able to join in!  You can link up your creation on the blog HERE.

A Progressive Challenge

Flourishes issued a progressive challenge yesterday....

Start with a sketch.  Use a monochromatic color scheme.  Use some designer paper.  Add some sparkle.  You could make 4 cards or just one.  I chose just one. : )  I used the Summer Blossoms and Autumn Blossoms sets, some retired SU dp, a little glitter and a single rhinestone (cuz it was the only one I had left!) and, of course, followed the sketch.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Thanksgiving Wishes

Isn't this Fall Arrangement digi pretty?  It was perfect for this week's challenge at the Sweet n Sassy digi challenge blog to make a Thanksgiving card.  I colored it with copics and used a card base that I found in my stash that was already prelayered.  I love it when that happens!

We have so much to be thankful to God for each day, don't we??  I'm so glad we still have a special day set aside to remind us of that, but I hope that isn't the only time we remember to praise Him for His goodness and mercy to us!!

Have a blessed day.  I do hope that you'll be able to play along with the challenge!

Birdie Brown SFYTT

Just a quick thank you note today using the sweet November digi from Birdie Brown and following this month's Sketch for You to Try for my layout.  The sentiment is from The Angel Company.

Thanks for swinging by today!

A Winter Bookmark

Welcome back!

Today's challenge on the Sweet n Sassy Digi Blog is to make anything but a card so I made a sweet little winter bookmark with my Pippin digi that I had resized to be a little smaller.  Don't you just love digis?  I seem to like things miniaturized.... even my dogs are small! -- so I really enjoy the fact that I can make my digis little. : )

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you'll be able to play along!!

10 Minute Thursday

Hello!

Welcome back to a Flourishes "Ten Minute Thursday!"   Today's card looks a little more involved than last week's, but it is still perfectly doable in 10 minutes.  It has two things in its favor.  An easy sketch and sketchy coloring.  Are you ready??  Hop over to the Flourishes Blog for the details!

A Fabulous Birthday

Today's card was for last week's sketch at My Favorite Things.  These aren't colors I would usually choose, but I'm trying to use up my pile of dp... : )

BTW, her shirt isn't paper pieced.  I colored it with copics and added some fine dots with an SU marker.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Back in Time

I had a lot of fun using up some scraps of older SU cardstock today.  I wanted to make a card for the Flourishes challenge to have an image "fall off the edge" of the paper.  I stamped the bouquet on the Turquoise cardstock in Turquoise ink and the embossed the bottom third or so.  I covered the break with my little bit of bouquet that I had colored with SU markers and stamped a little thank you flag.  A little stitching and you have a clean and simple (and bright!) card!

A Timeless Birthday

I had a chance to make a card for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday birthday challenge this afternoon, but I didn't have a lot of time, so I grabbed the first little pile of cardstock I saw on my desk and stamped on it! : )  The little flower image is from Autumn Bouquet and the sentiment is from Mix n Mugs.  I colored with copics and just played around, adding layers, stitching and embossing until I was happy with it! : )

Thanks for dropping in today.  My mom is in the hospital right now, so my blog might be quiet unless I can carve out a minute or two to play, like I was able to today!

Blessings!

Rhubarb's Sunflower

Yay!  It's Sweet n Sassy Digi Challenge day again!!  Be sure to hop over to the Digi Blog and see all the great cards by my fellow DT members.  It's so fun to work with these wonderful images!!

Today's challenge was STITCHING, so I made sure to add some to the layer under Rhubarb.  He and his sunflower are colored with Copics and cut out with an Oval Spellbinders die.  The sentiment is from the Serve in Love digi sentiment set and is cut out with an open scallop circle die and then sponged with saffron ink.  I do hope you'll play along with the challenge.  SNSS digis aren't required, but we'd love to see them!!!   Don't have any yet??  Hop over to the Sweet and Sassy store and take a look around.  There are SO many to choose from!!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Blessings!

10 Minute Thursday

Hello everyone!

Guess what!!  I am thrilled to bits to be today's 10 Minute Guest Designer on the Flourishes blog!   You've all heard of "Your 15 Minutes of Fame"... well I've only got ten, so let's get started! :)

Today's card uses a quick and easy watercolor technique to make a simple stamped image look complex.  I started by pulling together some coordinating cardstock from my scrap pile.  The size of my kraft-ish cardstock wasn't quite A2 size, so I trimmed it down to a 4"x4" card, and then I stamped the large bouquet from Autumn Blossoms with dye ink onto the cream cardstock.  Using a tiny paintbrush, I simply went around the edges of the image with water, and then touched my paintbrush to some of the other shaded areas in the bouquet itself to darken them.  After I stitched around the edge of the matted image, I stamped a sentiment from Summer Blossoms on a little piece of Flourishes Classic Ivory Cardstock to finish off this quick fall creation.

Be sure to stop by the Flourishes Blog next week for another 10 Minute Tip!!

A Note for You

Today's card was really fun to put together.  I used the Wednesday Sketch challenge at My Favorite Things for the layout and then just played with some retired SU designer paper and some MFT dies.  Dies really are a fun way to add some "pizzaz" to your cards!   If you look up on top, the two pearls over the embossed half-circle look like a smiley face. : )

Our Daily Bread Challenge

I must have been feeling very orange today!  Orange is one of my favorite colors - especially at this time of year.  It is a happy color and this is card has a happy sentiment for me.  To know that God's grace is completely sufficient no matter what the circumstances is so comforting when I'm faced with a circumstance or person that makes me stressed or anxious.  How wonderful to be able to rest in Him!!  I followed the sketch at Our Daily Bread for my layout and used the Grow in Grace set for the flowers and sentiment.  I stamped the flowers in Soft Suede ink and then watercolored them very lightly with Tombows.  I was surprised that the ink didn't run, but it actually held up pretty well on the GP #110 cardstock I was using.

Meet Pippin!

Hello Friends!

It's time for another Sweet n Sassy Digi challenge!! But this week we have some extra fun -- the Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Challenge Team is having a blog hop to introduce you to the October Digi Release!! Be sure to leave some love on each of the blog hop posts, ok? One of the ladies below is a mystery blogger (I don't even know who!!) and she will be picking a random winner from the comments on her blog post to win the ENTIRE October Digi Release! Ready for a card???

Meet Pippin Penguin, Sweet n Sassy's new digital darling!!  Be sure to complete the hop, because this is just one of the wonderful new digis available at Sweet n Sassy today!! : )

I colored Pippin with ProMarkers and Copics and followed an old sketch that I found in my "go to" sketchbook.  I needed some metal, of course, since that is today's challenge at the Sweet n Sassy Digi Challenge Blog, so I added a few brads to the corners.  The background is embossed with a Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder, and the DP is from MME.  The sentiment is from the SNSS clear set "Cocoa's Gift".

OK, here's your hop list so you can be in the running for that prize!!

A Very Merry Timeless Tuesday

My Timeless Tuesday challenge card for today was termed "odd" by my daughter, but I really like how it turned out! : )  I stamped the holly from the Flourishes set "Meet me under the Mistletoe" on a Labels 5 die and colored it (quickly) with copics and then added a sentiment from the same set.  The background is embossed with snowflakes.  I added a few ink speckles, some twine and a couple of pearls to complete my quick and easy (and odd!) card. : )

In Appreciation

Isn't it fun to get a card that says someone appreciates you, or one that thanks you for a job well done??  Well, that's your challenge for today over on the SNSS Digi Blog!!  Create a card of appreciation AND... use something that you've hoarded in your stash. : )  I used some of my twine.  I actually have quite a bit of it, but it almost hurts each time I pull it out, because sooner or later I'm going to run out!   Isn't that silly!!

The digis that I used today were Rhubarb's Cuppa Joe and Hot Cocoa Sentiments.  My dp is from a stack of retired Stampin Up paper that I won this summer.  That paper has been such a blessing!!!

Thanks for stopping by today, and don't forget to grab your digis and play along!

Naturally Sweet

Just a couple of Flourishes challenge cards to share today!  The first challenge was to make a card that had to do with nature.  I chose fall colors, a spray of flowers from the Autumn Blossoms set, and some twine.  It's just a 3x3 card, but I thought it would be a nice note to tuck in a college care package!

The next challenge was to make a card featuring a sweet treat.  I don't have any Flourishes stamps that would fit the bill, so I used a Sweet n Sassy stamp and a sentiment from the Flourishes Passion Flower set.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Inside and Out

I needed a card with a Scripture verse for an order so I used the Proverbs 3:5 Plain Jane from Verve, and bordered it with a flourish of flowers from the Summer Blossoms set by Flourishes.

The Flourishes gals have challenged us to make a card that is decorated inside and out, so I'll show the inside here, too.  I hardly ever decorate the insides of my cards, but I do like the look!

A Blessing!

Happy Fall, Y'all! : )

Guess what!  I have the privilege of joining the Design Team for the Sweet n Sassy Digi Challenge Blog for a few months! Today we have a fun BINGO challenge to share.  Here's the board...

I used the adorable Rhubarb's Autumn Day digi for my card and colored it with Copics.  I used a Deckle Spellbinders Die to cut out my image and some little buttons (well, actually they are button brads, but I'm counting them as buttons!) on the bottom.  I added some embossing to finish out my BINGO row and added a sentiment from the SNSS Blessings and Thanks clear set.  I'm also entering this in the HYCCT Strip Challenge at SCS since I used a strip of paper to anchor my image.

I hope you'll be able to play!  Just link up your card on the blog when you're ready.  Any digis are ok, but we'd love to see your Sweet n Sassy digis if you have them!!!

All Your Care

I ran across a challenge site called Word Art Wednesday that offers a Scripture digi each week to use on a card or project.  I loved this week's verse so I just had to play along!

Some of you may know that my Mom had a stroke a few months ago.  I've been helping with her speech therapy at home and one of the things we are working on is memorizing verses that she knew before the stroke affected her speech and memory.  This is one of the verses that I chose for her, and it is one that she can now say without hesitation.  Considering that she cannot get through a sentence without hesitation 99% of the time, this is quite an accomplishment and such a testimony to me that in spite of what she has gone through, her feet are still planted firmly on the Rock - Jesus Christ - the One she has loved and served now for over 70 years.

The beautiful flowers on the card are from the Flourishes set "Autumn Blossoms" and the card is "fall"-ish for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge.

Blessings!

Verve Diva Dare

This month for the Diva Dare we were supposed to be inspired by a card from a Verve fan - not a  DT member.  I used this card  as my inspiration.  I loved the clean and simple look and the verse stamped over the flower.

Here's my card...

I added an extra layer with my embossing, but kept the oval frame for the verse.  My flowers are from the set "Because of You" and the verse is from "New Mercies".  I added an organdy bow rather than the stitched ribbon on the original, and added a few pearls and some stitching to complete the look.

Thanks for stopping by today!

A Big Birthday

My dear husband is celebrating his 50th birthday in November and I had so much fun making this card for him!  I used a cute new A La Mode stamp from My Favorite Things to represent me... capris, grey hair and all! : ) I, of course, used the stock colors for an "over the hill" 50th birthday card... black and grey.  : )   I curved one of the sentiments from the set as I applied it to the block so I could use it over the top of my image.  Then I used the By the Numbers die-namics to cut out the numbers 5 and 0 from both chipboard and patterned paper to give a POP of color.  The little "t" and "h" are hand drawn and cut out.   Since this is a guy's card I didn't want any frilly embellishments, so I stuck with some stitching, a little paper piecing and I used the Solid Bracket Die-Namics for the border.

I was following the Guest Designer sketch from MFT for my layout, and I flipped it to a mirror image so I could put the 50 on the right side and fill in the empty spot.  I still felt like it needed something, though.  Hmmmm..... I've got it!!  Arrows are all the rage right now... and that would draw your eye toward the 50 - which after all is the most important thing on the card... especially because I am *not* 50 yet and won't be for a number of years. : )

And there you have it!  Would you like to see the inside?  Remember, this is just a "for fun" card.  I'll make him a serious one later. : )

Here's the details....

Stamps:  ALM Big Birthday Wishes
DieNamics:  By the Numbers, Solid Bracket Border
Paper:  Kraft, White, Recollections DP, SU DP
Ink:  Memento Black
Accessories:  Copic and Promarkers, stitching, scissors, glue
